Editorial Policy
Effective date: October 25, 2026
Hello Raleigh NC is an independent local guide focused on useful, practical information about Raleigh, North Carolina, and the surrounding Triangle. This Editorial Policy explains how we approach research, sourcing, corrections, recommendations, and updates.
Our Editorial Goal
Our goal is to help readers make informed decisions about where to eat, what to do, and how to explore Raleigh. We prioritize clarity, accuracy, usefulness, and local relevance over filler, hype, or unnecessary rankings.
Research and Sources
For information that can change, we prioritize current primary and authoritative sources whenever practical. Depending on the topic, these may include:
- Official restaurant, business, attraction, and venue websites
- Current menus and official location pages
- Official social-media accounts when they are the clearest current source
- City, county, state, park, transit, tourism, and other government resources
- Official event and ticketing pages
- Reliable local reporting when primary information is unavailable or additional context is needed
We do not treat crowdsourced listings or old directory pages as more authoritative than current official information when the two conflict.
Facts That Change
Local information changes frequently. Hours, menus, prices, addresses, happy-hour schedules, parking rules, admission fees, reservation policies, event dates, and amenities may change after publication.
When these details matter to an article, we try to verify them before publication or update. If a detail cannot be confirmed confidently, we may omit it or describe it cautiously rather than guess.
First-Hand Claims
Hello Raleigh NC does not invent visits, meals, interviews, residency, testing, or personal experiences.
If an article does not include a documented first-hand experience, it will not be written as though the editorial team personally ate the dish, visited the venue, stayed at the hotel, walked the trail, or attended the event.
Recommendations and “Best” Lists
We do not assume that every local guide needs to declare one place “the best.” Many readers are better served by comparisons based on cuisine, neighborhood, price range, atmosphere, hours, menu style, accessibility, parking, or the type of occasion.
When an article uses terms such as “best,” “top,” or similar ranking language, we aim to support the selection with clear reasoning, credible recognition, consistent reputation, relevant evidence, or another defensible basis rather than arbitrary ordering.
Restaurant and Business Coverage
Restaurants, businesses, attractions, and organizations do not automatically receive coverage because they contact us.
We may consider reader suggestions, business announcements, new openings, closures, menu changes, relocations, and other updates, but inclusion depends on editorial relevance and verification.
Unless clearly disclosed, inclusion in a guide should not be interpreted as paid placement or approval of the article by the business being discussed.
Sponsored or Paid Content
If Hello Raleigh NC publishes content created as part of a paid sponsorship, advertising arrangement, hosted experience, or other material commercial relationship, that relationship will be disclosed clearly where readers can reasonably see it.
Commercial relationships do not remove our responsibility to avoid knowingly false factual claims.
Corrections
We welcome factual corrections.
If you believe an article contains outdated or incorrect information, email contact@helloraleighnc.com and include:
- The URL or title of the article
- The information you believe is incorrect
- An official or reliable source supporting the correction, when available
We review correction requests before changing published information. A request from a business to remove accurate information does not by itself require us to remove it.
Updates and Freshness
We may update articles when restaurants close or relocate, menus or hours change materially, attractions change policies, new options become relevant, or older information no longer serves readers well.
Not every minor edit receives a separate public correction note. Material factual corrections or significant changes may be noted when context requires it.
Bylines
Articles may be published under the Hello Raleigh NC Editorial Team byline. The byline represents the publication’s editorial work and should not be interpreted as a claim that an unnamed individual personally visited every business or location included in an article.
Editorial Independence
Our aim is to make editorial choices based on usefulness to readers and relevance to Raleigh rather than on pressure from businesses or organizations mentioned in our coverage.
